She's here!!!

Welcome to the world Reese Hannah Wentrcek!!

Baby Wentrcek has arrived, and IT'S A GIRL!!! Reese Hannah Wentrcek came into the world exactly on time, on her due date, November 4, 2010 at 6:07am. She weighed 6lbs, 7oz, and was 19 inches long. She's perfectly healthy and happy! We just love her so much already and can't wait to watch her grow into a beautiful lady!

This is how the birth of Reese all went down:

I started having contractions around 9am at school on Wednesday, November 3rd...I wasn't too sure what they were (gas??) but started timing them anyway. I sent Wyatt an email to let him know what was going on, and he got all kinds of excited! I saved his emails because they were just so cute! At this point, I still wasn't sure if I was actually in labor or not. They were only lasting for 30 seconds or so and were about 15 minutes apart, so I wasn't too worried. I just kept teaching right along in between contractions. I'd just stop talking for a little bit and then when it passed, pick right back up again. For some reason, the kids didn't even notice!! Maybe they weren't paying attention anyway haha! I called my mom to let her know what was going on so she could get to Houston in time if I was in fact in labor. Then at around 1:45, my principal heard that I was having contractions and came down to my room and sent me home. I was super bummed that I had to leave. I just knew that if I went home, things would slow down and/or I'd just start getting nervous about having a baby! Plus, I had a few things I could have gotten straightened up/ready for my sub in my classroom. Anyway, I went home, Wyatt came home, and then around 5:00 my mom got to town. We just sat around, and my contractions got farther and farther apart. I finally went to bed around 10:00 when the contractions were about 40 minutes apart...I was not happy!! Then about 10:30 or so, they really kicked in full force! Wyatt and I timed them in bed, and around 1:00 decided it was time to head to the hospital seeing as I couldn't tell when one would stop and the next would start! When we got to the hospital, I was already dilated to a 6, and the nurse said I'd have a baby by 5:30 or 6:00 that morning! I was shocked! Things really moved fast then. I was placed in a room, and by 4:00 was fully dilated. At 4:17 my water broke, and I pushed for almost 2 hours. Reese came into the world at 6:07am!!! Wyatt and I were so happy to be able to have her with absolutely no medication at all! The epidural was scarier to me than childbirth, so I was glad I didn't have to go through that! :o)

Reese is sleeping and eating so well...we couldn't have asked for a better baby! Wyatt and I are actually getting some good sleep in between feedings at night, so we haven't been too too terribly sleep deprived! However, waking up a few times a night has quickly become our new normal! Reese enjoyed her first Thanksgiving at Uncle Garrett and Aunt Vern's...she basically slept the entire time, but we enjoyed passing her around and loving on her. We also loved watching the Aggies BTHO tu!! Since Reese has been in the world, the Aggies haven't lost a game....Wyatt has decided that she's a good luck charm! She sported her maroon every Saturday and cheered on the Aggies in Wyatt's arms! She has been in our lives for a little over 3 weeks and we can't believe how much joy she's brought to our lives already! We are so excited to be starting this adventure together! Here are a few pictures of our little lady!

39 weeks!

Well here are the last pictures of our little one in utero...we hope!! We had an ultrasound today, and the baby decided to cooperate and let us see his/her face! Hopefully the next time we see the face, it will be in our arms! Only 3 days until the due date, but if this baby is anything like me in everything I do, it will be late! :o)

Enjoy!

We have no idea where these big lips are coming from!! Hopefully it's just because he/she is all squished up in there!

Nursery Pictures

We're exactly ONE WEEK AWAY from our due date!! I'm still working and waiting on him/her to arrive! We're so excited to meet our little joy! Here are some pictures of the super cute nursery! My aunt made all the bedding and curtains...she did an awesome job! Thanks Aunt Tommie Ann and Mom for helping to make it so super cute!!

This is the dresser that me, Lindsay, and Mrs. Aldon worked so hard to find in Canton. Then, Mom and Wyatt (and me a tiny bit) worked on it to get it refinished to the beauty it is today! Wyatt put so many layers of varnish on it to make the top so super smooth!! Thanks babe for slaving over it and cooperating with my demands!

Belly pics

Our little tiny precious gift from God!!

Can't wait to meet you, Baby!

Our attempt at a classy heart hands picture! :o)

Classic side view...

Katye getting artsy on us...she wanted to change her "point of view"! haha We had so much fun!

My good friend and teaching partner Katye Hight took these...she really should charge for them! :o) I think they turned out really cute! She took a ton of pictures of Wyatt and I at a park in the Woodlands. We had such a fun time taking them! Before we got started I swore I wasn't going to "expose" my belly, just wear a tight shirt, but once we started taking them, Katye said I didn't look pregnant enough with my shirt covering my belly...she said it just looked like I was gassy! hahaha!! Just thought I'd share a few!

Oh yeah, this was at about 35 weeks. Now I'm 37 weeks, 3 days...

They really DO say the darndest things!!

As you know, I teach 3rd grade, which is always fun and there really never is a dull moment in my job! So, I thought I'd include some of the latest quotes on pregnancy from some of my sweet students...

"Mrs. Wentrcek, you know how a lollipop has that line down the middle? Well, your stomach kind of looks like that..." - Judah, talking about the line created by my pants in the middle of my stomach. I proceeded to tell him that the line was just my pants, which made the entire class chuckle at the thought of my pants being pulled up so far...

"Mrs. Wentrcek, do you always look like that or are you just fat because you're pregnant?" I of course let Emmanuel know that it is NEVER polite to tell a woman she's fat...he tried to cover himself by saying, "No, no, no I meant big...no I mean, your belly...I mean..." It's ok, Emmanuel, I know what you mean....

"Mrs. Wentrcek, how did the baby get in your belly?" - Johnathan...I just told him that was a question for his parents...didn't want to go there!! :o)

and my personal favorite....

"How did you get pregnant?" - a 1st grader at bathroom break
"I just prayed really hard..." - me
"No, that's not true, my sister said your husband has to touch you!" - another 1st grader setting me straight!! HAHAHAHA

I LOVE my job!!

Well, now we are just counting down the days....18 more until my due date!! I can't believe it's so close! I'm still feeling fine...just a little tired and get winded much more easily. I actually broke down and asked a student to tie my shoe for me the other day. He was really kind and did it without a comment...all of my students are really sweet and pick things up for me without me even having to ask. They know that it's either that they pick it up for me, or they'll be picking ME up off the floor! :o) So other than just being ready to be UNpregnant, I really can't complain...I feel great and have enough energy to make it through the day with my crazy kiddos!

We can't wait to see what our little one will look like, and of course if our little one is a he or a she!! I can't imagine what our new lives will be like, and we are just enjoying each other and our last days as a family of 2 (well, 2 and a half if you count Cleo). Seeing as I'm not the best blogger, the next update will probably be with pictures of our little bundle of joy!

Cankles, school, and kicking, OH MY!

Well school has started, and so have the cankles!! My first cankle experience was the week before school started at Meet the Teacher Night. As I'm changing clothes in the bathroom at school, I realize that I have cankles!! My feet and ankles were so swollen that I couldn't even get my feet into my pretty shoes that went with my dress. Now, you know me, I'm WAY too much of a klutz to wear anything too high heeled or fancy, so don't think I was trying to be a fashionista and forgetting my current condition...no no, I'm still a practical girl! They just wern't the frump shoes I'd been wearing all day long at inservice. Anyway, needless to say, hormones took over and I burst into tears. I just couldn't stop it! Luckily I have the BEST teaching partner in the world, Katye, and she fanned my face, made me sit down, and finished making sure my classroom looked just perfect. She assured me that all was well and that it was normal to have swollen feet. Thank God for Katye!!

The first week back at school has been absolutely exhausting! The first week back is always tiring, but doing it pregnant puts it in a whole other category! But tomorrow is Friday! Woohoo! I've sadly realized that no matter what shoes I decide to wear, my feet will be swollen at the end of the day. Sometimes I feel like they're going to fall off at the ankles...haha Speaking of shoes, I bought some black tennis shoes (I know, not the most fashionable, but hey whatever works!) to wear so my feet have some extra support. I put them on with some gray pants and came out for a little mini fashion show with Wyatt. His response was, "Well, you look like you're going to ref a basketball game..." So, I've been too self concious to wear them yet, but I'm sure the sore feet will win out in the end!

Tonight I was attempting to do my readings for this week, and had the book resting on the enormous belly, (which by the way has come in quite handy for holding things lately). Well, this baby was having none of it! He/she started kicking so much that I really couldn't concentrate on the words on the page! I guess it was their way of letting me know that grad school wasn't happening tonight and to hurry up and feed him/her! Hey, I can take a hint! :o) I'm getting so so excited to meet this little bundle of energy in my belly! I just can't believe that we've only got about 2 months to go! How time is flying! I'm so curious to see how he/she will look and act! In the words of my favorite movie, Steel Magnolias, "When it's all said and done there will be a little piece of immortality with Jackson's {Wyatt's} good looks and my sense of style." Well, maybe it would be the other way around, seeing as my style is just what's comfortable...Wyatt's way more stylish than me! :o) Either way, we're so excited to see what joys this little person will bring to our lives!

That's all for now!

The Wentrcek "Scowl"

We had another ultrasound today...at 28 weeks. How crazy is it that I'm already 7 months pregnant?!?! Anyway, this ultrasound was the craziest one so far! We've discovered that Baby Wentrcek has mastered the art of the Wentrcek Scowl. I mean really, look at this baby and tell me that it doesn't look just like Wyatt's classic scowl!

HAHAHA!! Wyatt said "he" is just tired of being in there and is ready to get out to the world! We both think it's a boy, by the way, as do most people who have seen me. The nurse said he/she is 2 pounds, 14 ounces. It looks HUGE on these pictures (not to mention that I feel just as huge!), but 2 pounds is so tiny!! I can't wait to see what this little peanut looks like for real! Here's another picture...this one definitely looks like Wyatt...no scowl in this one, but just a super cute face (if I do say so myself...) with a large nose! :o)

In other news, the baby has been moving around SOOO much lately! Holy smokes! It's just rolling around in there all the time! (He/she is moving right now as a matter of fact!) The other night I made Wyatt pause the TV so we could watch it bouncing off the walls in there. Wyatt said "He must be practicing his golf swing." haha I definitely agreed! :o) Then I was back at home this weekend and my sister, Catie, was there. The baby started moving so I called her over to watch. When I lifted up my shirt for her to see, she was totally grossed out! It really is the freakiest thing I've ever seen! So cool, but lets all be honest here, it freaks you out right?? I mean how crazy is it that there's this living being inside of me???

One of these days I'll take a picture of myself and post it on here. As Wyatt so smoothly said the other night, "Babe, our baby has such a nice big home," as he lovingly stroked my belly. Seriously??? A BIG home? Not a beautiful or cozy or perfect home, but a BIG one?? He tried to redeem himself by explaining what he really meant, but I assured him that there was no way out of this one! haha Poor Wyatt...he does try! Love love love that man! :o)

Anyway, school is starting next week...well for the kids anyway. Teachers are back this week, so summer is officially over! I have to admit, I am looking forward to starting up and having a routine again. I know time will definitely fly by now! It'll be November 4th before we know it!

24 week ultrasound

Well I am now 24 weeks along and we had another ultrasound on Monday, and this one was so neat! We get to have one every month now because of that tiny AFP elevation scare (no worries, we have a perfectly healthy baby!) and they have a 3D machine there so every time we get to see our baby in 3D! It was so cool to see how much our little pinto bean has developed! I've decided that he/she has Wyatt's nose...he doesn't agree, but there is definitely a schnoz there! :o)

Doesn't it look like he/she is smiling?? Such a happy baby already!

Check out that nose!! :o)

Other than that, I've just been growing and growing! I'll have to post a belly pic soon. This baby is really jumping around in there. We're able to see it moving...my shirt just bumps up every now and then. I'm starting to realize that going back to work in August is going to do a number on my feet! I mean really, just vacuuming or standing in the shower too long makes them swell! Guess I'll just have to invest in some really comfy (and probably frumpy) shoes for the next few months!

Grad school is underway and I'm LOVING it! I'm learning a lot and the online format is perfect! It'll be really easy to handle once school starts again. Hopefully I'll be able to juggle school, grad school, and baby! YIKES...oh well, in the words of Clairee from my favorite movie, Steel Magnolias, "That which does not kill us only makes us stronger."

We got our crib and Wyatt set it all up (without too much frustration, although there was a beer order in there...). I also picked out all the material for my Aunt Tommie Ann to make the bedding, so as soon as that's all done, I'll post pictures. We're going with denim and red. I do love something RED! I think it's going to be just adorable and super classy! Can't wait to see the finished product!

That's all for now...

Welcome to our blog!

Well, after much prodding from several friends, I decided to start a blog about our crazy Wentrcek life! Wyatt and I were married in July of 2008 (it was a GREAT party!) and have enjoyed so much our (almost) 2 years of married life together! Being able to be together and share everything with each other has been such a blessing to us both! God definitely knew what he was doing when he brought the two of us together! Every day we are laughing at each other or at some silly thing we've done or said! We are living in Spring right now, and I'm teaching 3rd grade and absolutely LOVE my team! Wyatt is a youth minister and is having fun with the teens. I'm about to start grad school next week and should be finished by December of 2011. Hopefully after that I will be on my way to becoming a principal in the near future!

Last June, we added Cleo to our clan here in Spring! She is a precious kitty that my mom found in the pasture while walking with the dogs. She's been such a fun addition to our tiny little family, and she definitely keeps us laughing. This past Christmas, she had our tree destroyed within a week. Guess we won't be putting the tree up right after Thanksgiving anymore! It looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book after she was through with it! She was just curious and wanted to climb and play... She also likes to climb into the very top of our closet and somehow wedge herself into our mostly closed suitcase. However, a couple of weeks ago, she climbed in and then knocked the suitcase off onto the floor. I of course screamed for Wyatt, and when he came to her rescue, she just peeked out, shook her head, and went on about her business, totally unfazed by the (I thought) traumatic event! Hopefully her kitten stage will end soon, and she'll be too good for us like every other cat I've known. Until then, we'll just continue to laugh with her!

This past February, we found out that we are about to add a 3rd (human) member to our family! We are expecting our first baby on November 4th! This news has brought so many changes already...from my every growing belly, to all books lying around the house being about babies/pregnancy/father-to-be. Wyatt has been a perfect saint through the pregnancy so far, and I know he'll continue to be as wonderful as always! One of the first things he said to me after we found out we were pregnant was "You're the most beautiful pregnant woman I've ever seen." Keep 'em coming, babe! :o) We had our first ultrasound at 8 weeks and saw the heart beating. Of course it just looked like a little fluttering blob, but it was amazing! So amazing, in fact, that part way through, I noticed Wyatt was sitting down in the chair near the bed. Afterwards, when I asked him why he sat down, he said, "I thought I was going to pass out babe...just from the thrill of it all!!" I'm thinking I might need a second coach in the delivery room, since he might not be able to make it through the "thrill" of the birth!

The next ultrasound, at 12 weeks, was much cooler because we could see fingers and toes! She said it was only the size of my pinky...I'm just so amazed at how much is developed at each stage! This is definitely a miracle in the making! God is so good!

This pregnancy has brought with it many amusing quotes from Wyatt that I will continue to post for your viewing pleasure! One of my favorites so far has been "Why do they call it a 'bun in the oven?' Why don't they call it a delicious cake?" These are things I don't know, babe.

We had another ultrasound at 19 weeks, and were able to see so many details on our baby! It's amazing what they can see in there! The ultrasound tech also switched to some 3D images, so that was neat to see as well! However, since it's still so early on, they said that the 3D ones don't look so great since the baby doesn't have much fat on it! She was right...we decided that it looked a little like a melting snowman, since the arms were so skinny! One 3D image was weird and bubbly (if you've seen one, you know what I mean) and my dad said it "looked like a rutabaga." Gotta love my funny father! :o)

So, the rest of my summer will be spent finding childcare and setting up the nursery....all in the midst of starting grad school online! Call me crazy, I know, but I figured my plate just wasn't full enough! My mom always said my eyes were bigger than my stomach! I work well under pressure, though, so all is well! I know Wyatt will continue to be the perfect supportive husband and father! Speaking of father, on Father's day, Wyatt was able to feel the baby move for the first time! He was thrilled! The "flutters" have progressed to more of a "poking" these days.

As of right now we are 22 weeks along, and no, for all you anal planners out there, we aren't finding out what we're having. I'd just decorate in red anyway, so why not keep myself (and everyone else) in suspense for a little longer? So as of now, we just refer to it as "the baby" or "Baby Wentrcek."

More updates and amusing Wyatt quotes to come!
